Commander of the Habema Operational Command, Major General TNI Lucky Avianto said that his party was forced to shoot Enos Tipagau dead because he resisted when being arrested.

"Unfortunately, we have to take measured strict actions, because the main suspect in various human rights crimes in Papua is resisting and even attacking TNI soldiers when they were being arrested from his hiding place in Baitapa Village, Intan Jaya Regency," said Lucky in his statement on Saturday night.

Separately, the Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani explained that before the operation, the team first conducted an investigation into the presence of Enos Tipagau and the location where he was hiding.

"In the operation conducted today at 07.14 WIT, there was a gunfire contact that resulted in Enos Tipagau's death," said Brigadier General Faizal.
