"So that crocodile was obtained through trading. It wasn't found naturally in the river," he said on Saturday.
Previously, their side also received news of the crocodile's discovery.
"We went together with the Pemko and Polairud to the location to ensure security. After checking, it was confirmed to be illegal trade. The crocodiles have been secured," said Annang.
Baby crocodiles are secured by Satpolairud to be placed in a temporary quarantine location.
Further examination is still being carried out to determine its origin. "After investigating, it was finally admitted by the owner that it was a result of a sale," explained Annang.
Nevertheless, the city government still installed some warning banners at strategic points in Sungai Kuin. The purpose is to remind the community to be more alert against the possibility of wild animals or illegal pets that have escaped into the wild.
"There's nothing wrong in urging the residents to be more alert. Especially since in Jafri Zamzam Street, there was a report from the residents who saw a crocodile," said Annang.
Total since the beginning of 2025, Annang said his team has received four reports of crocodile sightings in Banjarmasin. "The latest one was successfully evacuated on Friday night. While the previous crocodile reports have not been caught yet," he said.
This discovery is also an important reminder of the need for supervision of the trade in exotic animals, especially those that have the potential to endanger public safety and environmental balance.
"Actually, the community should not keep crocodiles freely. It's still a baby. Once it grows up, it will be troublesome for the owner and definitely dangerous for the surrounding residents," explained Annang.
Annang also reminded the community to report if they find similar cases. "Actually, crocodiles are protected and require a permit to be kept. The location for keeping them must be spacious. There must be permits and requirements. Not just anyone can keep them," said Annang.

At that time, Fery was fishing in Kuin River. However, instead of fish, the net caught a baby crocodile. Fery immediately called his neighbor, Farin. This member of the Ghost BPK helped Fery contact the authorities.
