Pakistan, July 21 -- Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that Pakistan has fallen behind in the race for development among the nations of the world due to its class-based education system. He said unfortunately, since the establishment of Pakistan, education has never been a priority for our rulers.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman was addressing the certificate distribution ceremony held in Peshawar for the first batch of students who completed free Information Technology (IT) courses under the Alkhidmat Bano Qabil Program. He stated that the standard of public schools in the country has deteriorated to such an extent that people now prefer to enroll their children in private educational institutions instead of government schools.
After launching the program in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, Alkhidmat Foundation has now started distributing certificates to more than 10,000 students who completed the free IT courses in Peshawar as well. Laptops were also awarded to students who performed exceptionally well. Additionally, 28 more courses have been added as part of the second phase, and Bano Qabil Phase II has been officially inaugurated.
At the ceremony, prominent attendees included Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan President Professor Dr. Hafeezur Rehman, Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Central) Emir Abdul Wasey, Provincial General Secretary Sabir Hussain Awan and others. In addition, professors from various universities, educationists, social media activists, journalists, students, and their parents attended in large numbers.
Under the Alkhidmat Bano Qabil Program, more than 186,000 students from across the province registered online last year for 16 different IT courses. The province's largest-ever entry test was held at Islamia College Ground Peshawar, with over 25,000 students participating simultaneously. On Sunday, certificates were awarded to the first batch of students who completed their courses.
In his address, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said: "Since day one, a class-based education system has been imposed on this nation, due to which our country has fallen behind the rest of the world in the race for development." He emphasized that over 65% of the population is comprised of youth, and the government should allocate a significant portion of the budget for them. Efforts must be made to bring out-of-school children into educational institutions.
The Jamaat-e-Islami emir added that in an environment of unemployment and hopelessness, the Alkhidmat Bano Qabil Program is a ray of hope for the youth across the country. He said the program has the potential to bring about real change and called on the government to support such initiatives by increasing the education budget.
He urged the provincial government to focus on spending more on education instead of privatizing universities and selling their lands. He further stated: "Rather than continuing with the class-based education system, the government should implement a unified curriculum, system, and language across the country, which would help fix both our education and national systems."
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman also expressed concern over the ongoing inhumane atrocities in Gaza, stating: "We cannot remain silent. We will not abandon the Palestinians, and the government of Pakistan must also demonstrate moral courage by playing an active role in supporting Palestinians on the international stage." On this occasion, certificates and laptops were distributed among the successful students.
