Daily Catholic Reflection, July 6, 2025: Because Your Name is Written in Heaven

Best for you - Jesus sent seventy disciples ahead of Him, into cities and villages, bringing peace and healing.
They returned with hearts burning, testifying that even evil spirits submitted in His name.
But Jesus looked at them and said, "Rejoice not because the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice because your names are written in heaven." (Luke 10:1-12, 17-20).
A simple sentence, yet shaking the foundation of human pride.
In the hidden success, there are subtle traps: forgetting who sent you. Forgetting that power is not yours, but a gift.
Forget that we are merely channels, not the source. Therefore, Jesus invites His disciples, and all of us, to return to the root of our calling: it is not the results that are the measure, but faithfulness to the mission.
Many people fall not when they fail, but when they succeed.
At the peak of success, a person can become alien to himself.
King Saul is an example: anointed by God, filled with power, but when pride crept in, he began to act on his own and lost his way (1 Samuel 15).
I forgot that rank is a trust, and power is a mandate, not a throne.
Yet in our lives: a minister, teacher, pastor, leader, anyone — when feeling successful, can be tempted to become the center, rather than the messenger.
Modern world, with all its size and bright lights, easily blinds us.
We start calculating the influence, showcasing achievements, and slowly forgetting who gave the mission from the beginning.
However, the Lord does not let us walk alone. From ancient times, He has promised to be with His people.
"Indeed, I bring peace like a river... like a mother comforting her child" (see Isa 66:10-14c).
God's involvement is not an empty promise, but a real embrace in every step of service.
And to the Apostle Paul, the Lord gave the climax of understanding: "I will not boast except in the cross of Christ" (Gal. 6:14).
The Cross of Christ is the center of all mission. There, power becomes love, victory becomes sacrifice, and glory becomes humility.
In the cross, we are reminded that true success is not about overcoming evil spirits, but about faithfulness amidst wounds, hope amidst failure, and love that does not seek reward.
Look around us: a simple teacher who sows values every day, a mother who in silence keeps the flame of faith alive in families, or an activist who stands firm for the oppressed.
They may not receive attention, nor be praised, but it is precisely there that the echo of Christ's mission becomes real.
They testify that life is not about appearing great, but about remaining faithful, even though the path taken is not easy.
Jesus did not reject success. He did not prohibit us from being joyful.
But He leads us to celebrate a deeper joy: that our names are written in heaven.
That we are known and loved by God. That our lives do not belong to us, but to Him.
Let us, in every success, kneel down, not puff out our chests.
Let each achievement bring us back to the Cross, where love becomes real and glory is crucified for salvation.
We are only messengers, and that is enough. Rejoice, not because the world submits, but because God addresses us with a name that will never be lost.
Finally, let the words of a great saint of this century, Saint Teresa of Calcutta, close this reflection and echo in our hearts: God has not called me to be successful. He has called me to be faithful.
(Allah did not call me to be successful. He called me to be faithful.)
Faithfulness — not in worldly achievements, but in Him who sent. In the name written in Heaven. In the cross that is the source of all true joy. (*)
