President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's condolence visit to the family of our business mogul an elder statesman, from Kano, late Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, signifies, not only his utmost regard for Northern elders, it also serves as a unifying factor for the near 'dis-arrayed' All Progressives Congress in the state.
From the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) he proceeded to Dantata's residence, right inside the ancient city, in Koki quarters, of Municipal local government.
Amid thousands of supporters and well wishers, he was well received in Kano. With people hailing him with all encomiums. His face and his entire body language, gave an accurate insight into his joyous feeling for the good reception accorded to him by the good people of Kano.
Many things that happened during the visit gave explanation to many political definitions attached to APC as a party in Kano. Some regarded the situation to be re-birth of APC in Kano. Some defined the situation as phoenix - like energetic movement. While many more see it as new dawn for APC in Kano state. Ultimately, how people conducted themselves and how many rival faces within the party were fused together, by the President's visit, speaks volumes of how President Tinubu can singlehandedly mend all fences, real and imagined, within the rank of the party, in the state. For him to retain hundreds of thousands of votes in the forthcoming 2027 election. As space for improvement still exists.
The first excitement that seen all over the faces of people at the Airport was when the Deputy Gubernatorial candidate of APC in Kano, during 2023 election, Murtala Sule Garo was sighed alighted from the Presidential jet, as part of the Kano illustrious sons accompanying the President to the state.
Not only that, as far as I am concern, this is the first time when non-elected element, but a famous politician, who answers the name famous and people-oriented politician, who holds no position in the federal government, was seen in similar elated circumstance, boarding a Presidential aircraft with the President as part of the Presidential team. I stand to be corrected.
It is indeed part of the protocol and not strange, to see His Excellency the Deputy Senate President, Barau I. Jibrin with the President in such circumstances. So also other gentlemen like Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila and the like, boarded the same Presidential jet.
I also sighted His Excellency former Deputy Governor and APC Gubernatorial candidate in 2023 election, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, alongside former House Leader, Hon Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Hon Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, Chairman House Committee on Appropriation and our famous Hon Baffa Babba Dan Agundi. All gathered at the Airport.
Not only that, other distinguished personalities like the APC State Chairman, Prince Abdullahi Abbas and almost all APC leadership from Wards, local governments up to state level were there live and direct.
I also saw the good presence of the former Member House of Representatives, from Tarauni federal constituency, Hafizu Kawu, his 'rival' Hon Nasiru Bala Ja'o'ji and the multitudes of supporters they mobilized to welcome the President. As if in-house rivalry halts between many rival camps within the party. Good omen for APC survival in the state.
To Allah Who Created me, I have never seen when Kano APC members came together for a unified and common purpose, than during this Presidential visit. The organization, mobilization and coordination were well managed and displayed.
Yes I don't know the wisdom used by the President, Presidency and Presidential think tank, to have this result-oriented outing. This visit, not only showcased Tinubu's capacity as a leader with leadership traits, it also says a lot in the capacity of his body language alone, that can, even without concrete and long planning process, make more unified, than ever witnessed, party, for healthy democratic experiment.
I begin to understand that, with the caliber of true and sensitive politicians seen during this visit, one can beat his chest and say, Tinubu's body language, political shadow, if you wish, and his voice, can mend and send APC to total progression in Kano, in particular, and the country in general.
Today I see a more unified and more supported APC in Kano, dancing around Mr President. The politicians seen around him, silenced political opponents in the state.
APC juggernauts in the state understand President Tinubu's call for workable cohesion, engaging effort of all segments of the party and clear understanding of true democratic culture and result - oriented democratic behavior.
In a near future, I see APC in Kano waxing stronger than all other North West states. An agenda that can only be supported by Mr President for its proper development.
Immediately after the condolence visit, he proceeded back to the Airport and boarded the Presidential Jet, back to Abuja. Adieu Mr President Adieu!
May the soul of Aminu Dantata rest in perfect peace. Ameen.
