Police investigating the murder of a couple found dead at their home have obtained a recording of the suspect speaking to them.

69-year-old David Mutaaga and his wife, Deborah Florence Mutaaga, were stabbed to death a few days after returning from Switzerland, where they had lived for 30 years.
Their deaths left neighbours and the public stunned, and many speculated on who may have orchestrated the killings.
As investigations progressed, detectives retrieved CCTV footage from the couple’s home, revealing one of the suspects as well as capturing his voice.
What did suspect tell Ugandan couple before killing them?
In a statement, the Uganda Police Force released images of the man on social media, along with an audio clip of his voice, hoping the public could help identify and apprehend him.
In the clip, the suspect is heard calling out to Deborah to save her husband. He also complained about how the couple’s children were in school, unlike him.
“We suffered, your children have studied, me I have not studied, I am at home suffering. Now go to hospital. Deborah! Come and help your husband. He is here dying,” the suspect’s voice is heard saying.
Police have offered a reward to anyone with information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest.
They stated that UGX 50,000,000 (roughly KSh 1,802,625) would be given once the suspect is apprehended.
“If you have any information that could assist in locating and apprehending the suspect, please call +256-769 675 918,” read the statement by police.
Who killed David and Deborah Mutaaga?
In images retrieved from the couple’s home CCTV, the suspect was seen holding a gun.
He wore blue gloves, a black balaclava, a black shirt, and red trousers with white stripes on the sides.
However, police have yet to uncover his identity.

Netizens react to released details
Some social media users questioned delays in releasing the recording, while others feared backlash for speaking up. Others also suggested that the suspect might be a relative.
Matovu Swaib:
"Please also announce it on TV stations, maybe someone will recognise the killer."
Emmanuel Kayiira:
"Did you also check the phones that were active in the area at the time?"
Abel Kaninga:
"So you decided to release the video after 15 days to give the criminal enough time to escape?"
Dickens Kwefaho:
"Sometimes people fear sharing information with police because they’ve ended up suffering for it. For example, those who witnessed the killing of Kaweesi, some were picked up, tortured, or even killed."
Mukisa Michael:
"That’s a family member. He committed the murder himself. I don’t think he was sent by anyone. Check within the family. Use footage from nearby CCTV cameras. Look for the trousers—those can be easily identified. I doubt he bought them on the day of the murder."
