Best for you The People's Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) approved 24 names of candidates for Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (Dubes LBBP) of Indonesia to various countries and international organizations after passing the suitability and qualification assessment (fit and proper test) by Committee I of DPR.
The evaluation process has been completed, and currently, these names are waiting for the official submission to President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto through the Speaker of the DPR, Puan Maharani.
Deputy Speaker of the People's Representative Council (DPR) of Indonesia Adies Kadir stated that all ambassadorial candidates have been declared eligible and suitable to carry out diplomatic duties abroad.
"All of them meet the fit and proper requirements, and the names have been accepted to become the ambassadors proposed by the government," he said after attending the DPR Full Session at Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday.
Adies explained that the mechanism for submitting names of ambassadors does not require an official reading in a full session meeting, as regulated in the DPR's internal regulations.
"Since the ambassador's regulations do not need to be read in the plenary session, they can be directly sent to the leadership, and then the leadership will forward them to the government," he explained.
Although all names are declared to have passed, Adies does not rule out the possibility of special notes regarding certain candidates that may be mentioned in internal reports.
However, he admitted he had not yet seen the official document. "Maybe there are records, but I haven't seen the letter yet," he said.
Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the People's Representative Council (DPR) of Indonesia, Dave Laksono, also confirmed that his party has completed all the qualification tests for the candidates for ambassador during two days, Saturday to Sunday, July 5-6, 2025.
Although the results were not announced in the Plenary Session, Commission I has submitted the results to the DPR leadership for further action.
"What's important is that we have already finished in the committee, we have already submitted it to the leadership, let the leadership decide," said Dave.
They added that all candidates are competent and capable of carrying out Indonesia's diplomatic mission in accordance with the president's foreign policy.
"There are no obstacles. All of them are able and capable of implementing the government's vision and mission with their respective work programs in the target countries," said Dave optimistically.
One of the prominent names on the list is Indroyono Soesilo, proposed as the Indonesian Ambassador to the United States, as well as Nurmala Kartini Sjahrir, who will be stationed in Japan.
In addition, former Indonesian Ambassador to Pakistan, Adam Mulawarman Tugio, is now assigned to Vietnam.
Some other names are senior diplomats, high-ranking officials, and retired military figures, such as Major General (Ret.) Gina Yoginda, who will become the Indonesian Ambassador to North Korea.
This closed feasibility test complies with DPR regulations, and the results are also confidential and not open to the public.
According to Budisatrio Djiwandono, Vice Chairman of the I DPR Commission, this mechanism is designed to maintain the independence and objectivity of the assessment.
Now, the ball is in President Prabowo Subianto's court to issue a Presidential Decree (Keppres) appointing these ambassadors.
For the candidates, they will soon undergo a diplomatic orientation period and receive official assignments to represent Indonesia in strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations.
Here are some names of candidates for the Indonesian Ambassador to the LBBP: Abdul Kadir Jaelani (Germany), Umar Hadi (New York), Sidharto Reza Suryodipuro (Geneva UN Office), Hotmangaradja Pandjaitan (Singapore), Andhika Chrisnayudhanto (Brazil), Judha Nugraha (UEA), until Andi Rachmianto (Belgium). ***
