The indictment against Tom Lembong was read by the public prosecutor during the indictment hearing held at the Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court on Friday (7/4/2025).
"Imposing a prison sentence on the defendant Thomas Trikasih Lembong for that reason with a seven-year imprisonment, reduced by the time the defendant has spent in pre-trial detention, with an order that the defendant remains in custody," said the public prosecutor.
In addition to the prison sentence, Tom Lembong was also ordered to pay a fine of Rp 750 million, with the stipulation that if it remains unpaid, it will be replaced by a six-month detention sentence.
When giving a statement after the reading of the indictment on Friday afternoon, Tom Lembong expressed disappointment.
Tom Lembong considers these demands to ignore the facts presented during the trial.
"I am disappointed and amazed that the indictment completely ignores 100 percent of the trial facts," Tom Lembong said to the media, quoted from a live broadcast by KompasTV.
I looked for adjustments from the indictment to the charges that reflect the facts revealed during the four-month trial, 20 sessions.
"However, I did not find any adjustments in the indictment that reflect the facts revealed during the trial," he continued.
Tom Lembong's Footprint in the Economic Field
Tom Lembong is a man born on March 4, 1971, holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in architecture and governance from Harvard University.
After graduating in 1994, he then worked at Morgan Stanley's Equity Division in New York and Singapore in 1995.
Leaving from there, the former Jokowi advisor continued his career at Deutsche Bank Jakarta from 1998 to 1999 and joined Deutsche Securities Indonesia from 1999 to 2000.
During his involvement in the economic field, Tom has held several positions.
Tom Lembong once served as Senior Vice President and Head of the Division responsible for restructuring and settling Salim Group's obligations to the state resulting from BCA Bank's collapse during the 1998 monetary crisis.
In the early 2000s, Tom Lembong continued his career at Farindo Investments.
In the same year, Tom held the position of division head and senior vice president at the National Banking Rehabilitation Agency (BPPN) during the period 2000-2002.
At that time, he was assigned to recapitalize and restructure Indonesia's banking sector following the 1998 crisis.

In 2013, the Governor of Jakarta at that time, former President Joko Widodo, appointed Tom Lembong as his economic advisor and speechwriter.
When Jokowi won the 2014 presidential election, Tom remained involved and was appointed Minister of Trade in 2015.
Not yet over, he was appointed as the Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) for the period 2016-2019.
Tom Lembong's name has become increasingly prominent in Indonesian politics after he wrote former President Jokowi's "Game of Thrones" speech delivered at the IMF-World Bank meeting in Bali in 2018.
In addition, his fabricated speech related to "Thanos" at the World Economic Forum also attracted public attention.
However, Tom Lembong no longer accompanied former President Jokowi during his second term.
