Best for you, MAKASSAR - The registration period for special hajj or non-quota government hajj has increased significantly after the 2025 hajj season.

Not only the elderly, now young people and couples in their 30s are also flocking to register for the hajj program with a shorter waiting period.

CEO Al Jasiyah Travel, Nurhayat, said that public enthusiasm has increased sharply, especially after many prospective pilgrims failed to depart through the furoda route this year.

"After the 2025 Hajj season, the registration for Hajj has significantly increased. It's not just people aged 40 and above, but also highly sought after by people in their 30s, especially young couples. They start thinking about registering earlier," he said when confirmed by Tribun on Friday (4/7/2025).

According to Nurhayat, the failure of thousands of prospective pilgrims to depart through the furoda route has triggered an increase in registrations for the special hajj program or Na Plus (NA+), which is a government quota hajj program managed by the Private Hajj Service Providers (PIHK).

"This year, the regular pilgrimage route did not take place. Many people canceled their departure. They finally switched to the special hajj program because it was considered the most reasonable in terms of price and certainty," he explained.

With a cost of around Rp250 million, special hajj pilgrims can get five-star hotel facilities, the mahtab location (tent in Mina) is very close to the jumrah throwing place, as well as VIP services.

Because of the five-star hotel facilities and the strategic location in Mina, many people believe that this is a truly exclusive program,

"But there is still certainty because it is within the official government quota," he said.

Nurhayat explained that Indonesia's current hajj quota has reached 221,000, and about 8 percent or 17,000 quotas are allocated for private hajj.

This program has become a very realistic alternative, although the waiting time is now starting to lengthen.

Wait 5-7 years, but definitely depart

She mentioned that before 2025, the waiting time for the special hajj program will only be about 5-7 years.

However, due to the surge in applicants, it can now reach 3-4 people per day, so the waiting time has exceeded 8-9 years.

"As a result, the waiting list, which was initially 7 years, is now 8 to 9 years. But people still sign up, because they know this is more certain compared to furoda, whose fate depends on Saudi policy," he said.

In addition to price and facilities, ease of registration is also a main attraction.

"The special hajj procedure is simple. Just pay around 4,000 US dollars or equivalent to Rp70 million with the current exchange rate. Within one or two days, the seat is confirmed and the pilgrim knows their departure year," added Nurhayat.

This train also reflects the awareness of the younger generation to plan for the pilgrimage to Mecca in advance.

Many young couples now register together, no longer waiting for retirement.

"High youth enthusiasm. They know that with the current list, they can go in 7-8 years. So when they are 35 or 40, they can perform Hajj," Nurhayat concluded.

In South Sulawesi, this trend has been strengthening in recent years.

This year, Makassar Embarkation recorded 15,856 hajj pilgrims from 41 groups, some of whom are young people under the age of 25.

According to the Head of the Hajj and Umrah Implementation Sector (PHU) of the South Sulawesi Ministry of Religion, Ikbal Ismail, this phenomenon arises from the collective awareness of the community about the long hajj queue.

With waiting times that can reach 30 years, many parents enroll their children at an early age.

Data from satudata.kemenag.go.id records that the Hajj candidates (JCH) from South Sulawesi under the age of 20 reached 5,145 people.

Although in general the pilgrims are still dominated by those aged 40 and above, the presence of young pilgrims is a refreshing breeze for the implementation of the pilgrimage in the future.

This train also carries new hopes. The young generation, who are religious, physically strong, and have a high spirit of worship, will become the backbone of the nation's spiritual regeneration.

However, as Ikbal reminded, they also must maintain their intention, making worship the main goal, not just an exotic journey full of photos and souvenirs.

Behind the white turbans and robes they wear, great hopes are stored.

The hope of the patient family waiting, from the dreams that time cannot erase, and from the current generation treading the footsteps of the Prophet with conscious steps.

Aji Lolo Becomes the Turning Point in Irma's Life

We don't have to wait for gray hair to appear, we don't have to wait for retirement.

At the age of 28, Irma had already set foot in the Holy Land.

She became one of the youngest pilgrims from Takalar Regency, part of the 2025 departure group.

A total of 259 pilgrims from Takalar were officially dispatched to Makkah on May 15, 2025, through the Makassar Embarkation.

Among the hundreds of faces filled with hope and prayers, Irma appeared with a young spirit and a spiritually mature soul.

"so that I can fulfill the fifth pillar of Islam while still healthy and strong," said Irma when confirmed by tribun, Friday (5/7/2025).

Irma is a resident of Kampung Beru Village, Biringkassi Village, Galesong District, Takalar Regency.

I registered for hajj since 2011, at the age of 14.

After waiting for 14 years through the regular channel, his name finally made it onto this year's departure list.

Mix well at departure

Nervous, eager, and uncertain are three feelings that accompany the days before departure.

However, once they set foot in Makkah, that feeling immediately changed into calmness and gratitude.

"Initially, a mix of nervousness and emotion. But once there, it became calmer and full of gratitude," said Irma.

Hajj, for him, is not merely fulfilling the duty of a Muslim, but also a spiritual journey that changes his perspective on life.

"Going home is different. There's a new spirit, the heart is more peaceful. It's like being given provisions to improve oneself in the future," said the woman who runs a cosmetics business every day.

Haji Does Not Have to Be Old

Irma never worried about others' opinions regarding her young age when she went on pilgrimage.

Ia just wants to be an example that going on pilgrimage does not have to wait until old age.

"Family is very proud. Friends are also impressed, many have been motivated. And alhamdulillah, there has never been any negative judgment," he said.

Amid the performance of worship, Irma shared some of her valuable moments on social media.

I am aware, there are many eyes watching.

But more than that, he wants to give positive spirit and a sense of gratitude.

"Friends gave a lot of prayers and encouragement. They were happy too, even some said they were also motivated," said the graduate of SMAN 1 Galesong Utara.

Can be called Haji

The title "haji" which is usually given to pilgrims upon their return from the Holy Land, Irma doesn't take too seriously.

Whether called "Haji" or not, what matters is the quality of his life after performing Hajj.

"It's okay if I'm called 'haji'. But I focus more on the changes in myself after performing hajj. That is more important," he said. (*)
