In recent centuries, many people from various fields, especially politicians, generals, and economists, have been inspired by and often used this ancient slogan.
" If you want peace, prepare for war. — if you want peace, prepare for war.
However, what we witness in Gaza today is the opposite: those who claim to fight for security are instead creating an endless spiral of violence, as if war itself has become the goal, rather than a means towards peace.
I start this writing with a deep sense of sorrow—sorrow as a fellow human being, not merely as a politician or academic. Sorrow over the martyrdom of Dr. Marwan Al-Sultan, Director of the Indonesia Hospital in Gaza, who was killed along with his wife and children in an Israeli air strike several days ago.
His house was destroyed by a missile, and his body, which had saved thousands of lives all along, is no longer safe. Dr. Marwan is not just a doctor. He is a symbol of humanity that transcends political boundaries.
His skilled hands never asked about the religion of the patients he treated. His tired eyes never distinguished whether the one lying in front of him was a Palestinian or Israeli child.
For him, what exists is only human lives that must be saved. His death is a loss for the entire human race, and in the name of DPP Golkar Party, in the name of the Indonesian people, and in the name of universal humanity, I express my indescribable condolences.
This tragedy must be a turning point, not only in diplomacy, but also in our awareness as a great nation with a long history of defending its independence. Let us restate clearly: this is not merely a religious conflict, it is not about Islam against Judaism or Arabs against Israel.
This conflict is the manifestation of greed, the ideology of supremacy, arms business, and global political arrogance that have persisted for decades. This war uses religious and belief proxies to showcase the sophistication of military technology and the ambition of power in an endless bloodstained arena.
This is the paradox of our time: in an era when technology allows us to communicate with anyone in the world within seconds, when science has taken us into outer space and found cures for diseases once considered curses because of their deadly nature, we are still trapped in a primitive cycle of violence. We still allow women and children, innocent people, to die because of the selfish desires of adults.
In that context, I welcome the statement by President of the Republic of Indonesia, General TNI (Ret.) Prabowo Subianto, who emphasized that Indonesia remains consistent in supporting the two-state solution as the best and most rational way to end the war.
I heard it myself, President Prabowo stated that full Palestinian independence is the key to stability and justice in the Middle East. The international community must be urged to respect Palestinian independence as a sovereign and independent state, living in peaceful coexistence with Israel.
President Prabowo is not alone. We from Golkar Party, with the spirit of active and free foreign policy, fully support the President's efforts to promote a peaceful solution based on justice. We also call on all members of the DPR RI's BKSAP to activate all parliamentary diplomatic channels and send a strong message to the world: Indonesia will never remain silent when the Palestinian people are being slaughtered.
However, the struggle is not enough to be just at the diplomatic table. We must answer Gaza's cries with concrete actions. Gaza today lacks doctors, medicines, and medical facilities. After the departure of Dr. Marwan Al-Sultan, these needs have become even more urgent.
Hospitals in Gaza are operating at minimal capacity, and some have been forced to close due to the lack of remaining medical staff. Children are born with malnutrition, mothers give birth without adequate medical assistance, and the elderly die due to lack of access to basic medicines.
Then, let me call on all doctors around the world—regardless of their religion or nationality—to give their time, knowledge, and courage to help the Palestinian people.
Remember, the ones you help are not only Muslims, but children of humanity who are struggling to stay alive. This is a humanitarian call that goes beyond political, religious, and national boundaries.
There was a statement from a Palestinian resident of the Catholic Melkite community, who said bitterly: "We are not asking for weapons. We just ask for the presence of human beings who still have hearts."
His words remind us that behind the ever-increasing statistics of victims, there are human faces just like ours—people who have hopes, dreams, and simple desires to live in peace.
Even some progressive Jewish communities in America and Europe today speak out strongly against Israel's military policies. They understand that true nationalism is not just about defending land, but about defending the human rights of other people living on the occupied land. They realize that Israel's security will never be achieved as long as the Palestinian people continue to live under oppression and despair.
This is what we must understand: true peace cannot be built on the suffering of others. Security built by sacrificing humanity is fragile and temporary. History has repeatedly proven that oppression only gives birth to resistance, and resistance will give rise to an endless cycle of violence.
Once again, I would like to say: Never get tired of fighting for Palestine. Never get weary of speaking up for humanity. I myself am not tired of saying this. The independence of Palestine is not a hollow dream. It is a historical trust, it is a moral duty for every human being who still believes in justice.
Indonesia—under the leadership of President Prabowo—will not fail in carrying it out, because this struggle is a struggle to uphold human dignity itself.
Gaza is weeping, the world must listen. Palestine is bleeding, we all must act.
