"My child is being bullied and teased, which makes me very sad and heartbroken. Now, his emotions are out of control, especially my name is often mocked," IM said during an interview on Saturday (7/5/2025).
Not Going to School, Afraid to Leave the House
Since that incident, according to the child's psychological condition, it is unstable.
The child became easily angry.
His emotions are hard to control, even for small things.
"He's easily angry now. Even the slightest mistake, he scolds me, my father. His anger isn't like a child's usual anger," she said.
Psychological pressure makes the child not want to go to school anymore.
Even to go outside the house, she always asks to be accompanied.
"Only in front of the alley he asked to be accompanied. I had difficulty asking him to continue going to school," added IM.
Timeline of Events
This case began when the victim was on the way home from school.
Perpetrator Rizky Apranto approached the victim with a car, pretended to ask for an address, and invited him to enter the vehicle.
In the car, the perpetrator asked the victim to watch an adult film played from the perpetrator's smartphone.
Soon after, the perpetrator turned off his phone, then committed violence by slapping the victim.
The victim resisted.
However, he was scared when the perpetrator seemed to take a weapon from inside the car's drawer.
Finding the helpless victim, the perpetrator then carried out sexual harassment.
Pressure Comes, Firmly Reject Compensation Money and Want the Perpetrator to Receive Maximum Punishment
IM revealed the existence of pressure from some parties who are suspected of wanting to lead it toward a peaceful resolution.
She admitted that she was visited by many unknown people and even offered a fantastic amount of money.
"I can't count how many people came to the house. I was offered up to 1 billion rupiah," said IM when interviewed on Saturday (7/5/2025).
However, the offer was firmly rejected by IM.
In his opinion, no amount of money is worth the struggle to fight for justice for his child.
"I will not replace my child's justice with money. I just want the perpetrator to be punished as severely as possible," he emphasized.
IM stated that his firmness in rejecting the peaceful path was solely to protect other children from possibly becoming victims.
"I just want justice for my child. And I'm only afraid that many other children will become victims," she continued.
I also explained that people who came often claimed they were sent to persuade him to agree to a peace.
Even if one effort fails, another effort will soon follow.
"Those who came said, 'we were ordered, who can reconcile this case? Well, if it fails, someone else will come.' And indeed, after I rejected it, three days later someone new arrived," he said, describing the recurring pressure.
So far, IM still insists on pursuing the legal path, hoping that the perpetrator will receive the maximum punishment and there will be no more victims in the future.
Two-Year Sentence Disappoints the Victim's Family
The disappointment reached its peak after hearing the court's decision on Thursday (7/3/2025), which sentenced the perpetrator to two years in prison.
The sentence was considered too light by IM, who has consistently fought for justice for her child.
"Saya hanya memperjuangkan keadilan anak saya. Saya sangat kecewa dengan putusan hakim," katanya.
In its ruling, the Court mentioned the defendant's polite attitude and admission of his actions as mitigating factors for the punishment.
However, for IM, the sentence is not proportional to the wounds and suffering experienced by her child.
She hopes that justice is fully enforced, not disappointing the victims.
LPAI Jambi Appeals for a Review
The Chairman of the Indonesian Child Protection Agency (LPAI) Jambi, Amsyarnedi Asnawi, considers the sentence to be very light and does not reflect maximum protection for children.
"Very sad. If this repeats, the children will be the ones who suffer. The cases that go to court are often given light sentences," he said.
The LPAI Jambi urges the Public Prosecutor (JPU) to immediately file an appeal, as according to the Child Protection Law, cases like this should have a minimum sentence of five years.
"On Monday (7/7/2025), we will send a letter to the Public Prosecutor's Office. If there is no response, we will write to the Central Child Protection Agency," he explained.
