Governor of North Sumatra Muhammad Bobby Nasution responded regarding the discovery of firearms owned by the former Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR) of North Sumatra, Topan Obaja Putra Ginting, on Thursday, July 3. He speculated that the possession of the Beretta pistol and air rifle might be related to Topan's position as Chairman of the Indonesian Target Shooting and Hunting Association (Perbakin) in Medan City.
According to Bobby, Topan was appointed as Chair of the Medan City Shooting Sports Association (Perbakin) by the Commander of the I/Bukit Barisan Military District at that time when he was still serving as the Mayor of Medan.
"As far as I know, previously the chairman [of Perbakin] and the chairman of Perbakin North Sumatra was Pak Pangdam, back then. The chairman of Perbakin Medan was appointed by Pak Topan," said Bobby Nasution at the North Sumatra Governor's Office on Thursday.
