As a retired teacher in Pangandaran, West Java, he now has to bear the debt caused by the use of students' savings funds from SD Negeri 1 Mekarsari, Cimerak District.
The principal of SD Negeri 1 Mekarsari, Ade Haeruman, stated that the school has called Bu Guru Cicih several times.
According to the person concerned, he will return the money after his assets are sold.
"Regarding the relevant teacher, he has been called several times. His answer is that the asset is already for sale, but there is no one who has bought it yet," he said.
However, according to the information received, the value of the assets to be sold by the teacher is insufficient to cover the entire savings debt.
"Yes, it's still insufficient (assets). The minimum comes from the 13th salary. The rest, the related family members must be responsible for helping to cover the shortage," said Ade.
Defense of Teacher Cicih
The teacher named Cicih initially used her students' savings to start a business.
However, unfortunately the business he built went bankrupt, and the capital he had already used up.
Cicih is a retired teacher from SD Negeri 1 Mekarsari, Cimerak District, Pangandaran Regency, West Java.
The reason behind Cicih's action, the Education, Youth, and Sports Office (Disdikpora) of Pangandaran Regency, was due to the pressure to collect business capital.
This case came to light after it was found that the savings money, which should have been the students' right, was used for the personal business interests of a teacher named Cicih as capital.
According to the Head of the Primary School Division (Kabid SD) of Pangandaran Regency's Disdikpora, Darso, this incident occurred before 2017.
At that time, Cicih was still active as a teacher and is suspected of using the students' savings amounting to Rp 343,900,000 as business capital.
"I don't know in detail, but according to information before 2017, the teacher had an attempt," said Darso on Tuesday (6/24/2025) morning, as cited from TribunJabar.
"His intention was probably good, there was an effort, he borrowed his savings to be used as capital, but in reality, his business did not succeed. That's why he became a teacher's debt," he added.
In response to this, Darso emphasized that the practice of using student savings for personal interests, regardless of the reason, is not acceptable.
"Actually, that is not allowed, let alone as much as that. It's not allowed," he emphasized.
She also recounted that previously, there was a principal who requested to borrow the students' savings because a teacher was about to get married.
At that time, Darso immediately refused.
"For example, there is a school principal who wants to borrow money because a teacher is getting married, borrowing an amount of Rp 3 million," he said.
I said that if you want to borrow, please borrow from outside. What's the difference between savings money and borrowed money from outside?
Darso emphasized that the students' savings are entrusted by the parents of the students and their use must be accompanied by the consent of all parents.
"If you want to borrow money, please go outside, to the bank or cooperative. Then, alhamdulillah it can be prevented," he said.
Although this case has recently come to light, Darso stated that his party does not have direct authority to take action because the incident occurred in the past.
"Actually, since it happened in 2017, we couldn't do much," said Darso.
Meanwhile, as this savings case has stalled, parents in Pangandaran Regency, West Java continue to patiently wait for the teachers' good intentions.
This was stated by some parents whose children are now in the first grade of junior high school.
One of them, Eful (40), a parent whose child once studied at SD Negeri 1 Mekarsari and has a savings of around Rp 29 million.
Eful said, although it has been a long time, he and other parents still patiently wait for the savings money to be returned.
Indeed, up to now, there has been no good information from the school or teachers to the parents.
"We are still waiting," said Eful when contacted by Tribun Jabar via WhatsApp on Saturday (6/21/2026) afternoon.
