A TikTok video has captured an adorable moment between Rashid Abdalla and his wife, Lulu Hassan.
The first Kenyan couple to anchor news together on prime-time TV, Lulu previously said she believes that destiny brought her and Rashid together during a period in her life when love was the last thing on her mind.
“Rashid came into my life during a very low moment. I had just lost my mum,” she recalled, thinking back on their first meeting.
How did Lulu Hassan meet Rashid?
Before her mother’s passing, Lulu had left her role at Radio Salaam. But after the tragedy, she found herself back in the same position, and fatefully, Rashid had just joined the station.
“I had moved to Nairobi looking for work. I’d left Radio Salaam and was working as a receptionist in Kilimani. After my mother died, I went back, and that’s when Rashid started working there,” Lulu shared.
Their bond didn’t start with sparks of romance. Lulu said Rashid became someone she could rely on, helping her through her grief. He filled a gap in her life, offering comfort when she felt most alone.
“When you’re in mourning, you need someone to lean on, and that’s how I viewed him. He felt like the father figure I was missing in my life. Eventually, our friendship grew into love,” she said.
Today, Lulu and Rashid are proud parents of three, and aside from their TV careers, they own a successful production company, Jiffy Pictures.
Is Rashid Abdalla a good dancer?
A TikTok video showed the two on stage during an eponymous football tournament that Rashid runs. They were casually dressed in branded t-shirts and jeans, with sneakers.
The MC asked the DJ to play a Luo hit, and Rashid did not waste time getting down to the Ohangla song.
He rhythmically moved his waist and feet, as Lulu looked at him, blushing. She did not dance, but her wide smile said it all. She shook her head at some point while still smiling.
