Best for you Zaki Fasa Idan, a fifth-grade elementary school student from Indramayu, West Java, has to face the law at his young age of 12 years old.

Zaki's name is listed as the defendant for occupying his father's inheritance house together with his mother Rastiah (37) and his older brother Heryatno (20).

Unfortunately, the plaintiff is none other than her own biological grandfather and grandmother.

The story of Zaki also reached the ears of West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, who then took action to provide assistance.

In a video uploaded to his personal social media account, Dedi Mulyadi is seen with Zaki, along with his family and a lawyer.

"I have met Zaki, his older brother, mother, and uncle. This is a family left behind by his late father," said Dedi Mulyadi.

Reported Best for you From the YouTube live stream Tribun Cirebon , the disputed ancestral house is located on a fairly busy road.

The house is located in Block Wanasari, Karangsong Village, Indramayu District/Regency, right across from the Karangsong Fish Auction (TPI).

The house stands on a land of 162 square meters, which according to Heryatno, was built by his parents themselves.

Once, the house was a pond area that was later bought by the family and built by Zaki's parents.

The front of the house has a large banner displaying: "Posko Peduli, Zaki, an 12-year-old orphan, is being sued at Indramayu Court as the defendant, please provide legal protection."

Not only used as a residence, apparently the house is where Zaki's family sells things.

On the terrace there is a nasi campur and grilled fish food stall managed by the family.

This small family warung reaches into the kitchen, where Zaki is seen actively helping his mother fry chicken.

The house looks quite spacious with a front parking area equipped with seats for customers who buy from the shop.

Then the middle room is used as a motorcycle parking.

There are three rooms lined up with curtains and one room near the kitchen.

In the back, there is a washing area and a closed door.

As an information, Zaki and his family have been living in the disputed house for about 15 years.

However, after his father, Suparto, passed away in 2023, Zaki's grandparents demanded his family to leave the house.

Heryatno explained that the certificate of the land is indeed registered under the name of the grandfather and grandmother.

This was because during the purchase process in 2008, the grandparents provided a larger contribution in terms of funds.

Out of the total land price of Rp 35 million at that time, Rp 23 million came from his grandfather and grandmother, while his parents could only contribute Rp 12 million to complete the purchase.

Nevertheless, Heryatno mentioned that during his lifetime, his father had expressed the desire to return the purchase money to his grandfather and grandmother.

However, the intention was rejected by the grandfather due to family reasons.

"Supposedly, there's no need to replace it because my grandfather could only give the land, but the house building was supposed to be built by ourselves," said Heryatno, Monday (7/7/2025).

Heryatno also admitted to being surprised and unable to understand the legal steps taken by his own grandfather.

She said that there had never been any conflict or dispute within the family.

"Previously, there was no problem at all," he said.

The spokesperson of Indramayu District Court, Adrian Anju Purba, confirmed the existence of a land dispute lawsuit involving a minor.

The lawsuit is registered under case number 34/Pdt.G/2025/PN Idm.

"Yes, in the Indramayu District Court, a case involving the third defendant named ZI is currently ongoing," he said.

Adrian stated that this case was first heard on July 2, 2025.

However, the court postponed the trial because the third defendant in this case, Zaki, did not appear.

The meeting was only attended by the defendant one (Rastiah) and two (Heryatno).

The session will be scheduled again on July 16, 2025, with a pre-mediation agenda.

"the session was postponed and will continue on July 16, 2025, to wait for the completeness of the parties' presence," he said.

Dedi Mulyadi Moved to Help

Zaki's action apparently touched the heart of West Java Governor, Dedi Mulyadi.

She immediately responded by inviting Zaki, his mother, and his older brother to her residence to provide direct attention.

Not only did Dedi Mulyadi encourage and provide moral support to the small family, but he also facilitated free legal assistance through a lawyer.

According to Dedi, Zaki's family has been living in the house for years, since their father passed away. However, the property ownership documents are still registered under the grandfather from the father's side.

This situation is the opening for the lawsuit filed by their biological grandparents. The house has now become a dispute, and Zaki along with his family have been asked to leave the residence they have long inhabited.

"Indeed, as the Governor of West Java, I would like to thank them because the people of West Java are helped by lawyers who are not paid," he said.

Dedi stated that the legal assistance was provided by a lawyer named Yopi, who is based in Tegal, Central Java. The assistance was purely voluntary and without any compensation.

At that meeting, Dedi once asked Rastiah whether there was a local lawyer in Indramayu who was willing to help them.

"No," answered Zaki's mother.

Hearing that answer, Dedi once again expressed his appreciation for Yopi, who sincerely helped Zaki and his family's legal struggle.

"Hopefully they can win in court," he said.

However, Dedi also conveyed a wise message in case the court's decision does not favor Zaki's family. He advised them to let go of the house if it must be sold to avoid prolonged conflicts.

"Because Allah provides livelihood to anyone who tries. Don't be afraid of losing your house, the one who should be afraid is if you lose hope," said Dedi Mulyadi.
