A family in Nakuru county is facing a painful dilemma, unsure whether to mourn their kin or take legal action.

Despite being overwhelmed by grief, Maurice Atieno has been forced to stay strong in order to fight for the release of his son's body.
Alvin Wambwa lies lifeless in the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital morgue, following his death after being brought in by a good Samaritan.
Wambwa's father has been asked to provide proof that the body of the 15-year-old boy lying in the mortuary is indeed his son's.
Wambwa diagnosed with epilepsy
"When I visited the hospital, I found my son was already dead and held in the mortuary. According to the information at the registration desk, he was registered as an unknown person. So they said the child is not mine until there is proof he is indeed my son," he said.
Wambwa was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2017, shortly after his mother's untimely death.
Since then, Maurice has been Wambwa's sole provider, raising him alongside Wambwa's sibling.
"I have been taking him to the hospital from time to time. Whenever the doctors tested him, they said the cause of his illness was unknown. He had health challenges for a while," he added.
When did Wambwa went missing?
Wambwa went missing on Sunday, June 29, and his father expected him to return home as he always did.
He had a habit of wandering off, but he always had his father's contact, which helped good Samaritans reunite him with his family.
Unfortunately, on this particular occasion, Maurice received a distressing call concerning his young son.
He was told his son had collapsed, sustained head injuries, bitten his tongue, and was rushed to a medical facility in Free Area.
Wambwa taken to Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital
Wambwa was later transferred to Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he allegedly met his death.
Maurice was asked to provide evidence to prove the boy was his son before he could claim his body.
"The people who took my son to the hospital registered him as an unknown person. After he collapsed on his face and bit his tongue, he could not speak.
I am making an appeal to good Samaritans because I am helpless and hopeless. My son has been in the morgue for over two weeks now. I am pleading for their help so that I can at least bury my son as soon as possible," he said.
