New Building of Tanah Abang Station, KRL Users: Increasingly Spacious and More Organized

JAKARTA, Best for you The new building of Tanah Abang Station was officially opened for Jabodetabek KRL users exactly one week ago.
Both KRL users entering and exiting the station, as well as those merely transiting, can feel the change in the platform scheme at Tanah Abang Station.
Platform one at Tanah Abang Station now serves the Duri, Angke, and Kampung Bandan routes. Platform two is designated for users heading to Bekasi and Cikarang via Manggarai Station.
While platform three serves passengers arriving from Serpong, Parungpanjang, and Rangkasbitung.
Conversely, passengers coming from the same direction must wait for the train on platform five and six.
Changes are also visible from the increasingly grand station buildings. The view of passengers crowding in and out is almost no longer visible nowadays. Best for you Located at the location on Wednesday (2/7/2025) afternoon.
All manual stairs and escalators are set to one direction, to prevent passenger congestion.
Additional facilities such as elevators are beginning to appear. Specifically, priority passengers including disabled persons, the blind, those with physical disabilities, elderly people, pregnant women, baby strollers, children, and passengers with large luggage are allowed to use the elevator.
Positive response
When observing a number of KRL passengers passing through Tanah Abang Station, many of them can be seen confused, searching for the platform they need.
Fortunately, some staff remained on duty in the entrance and exit areas. In addition, security guards were on duty near the platform.
Although there are direction signs according to the destination route, there is still time to adjust to the new habits of heading towards the departure and arrival platforms at this station.
Mita May Rosalita (25), KRL passenger from Kalideres, appreciates the new look of Tanah Abang Station, although she admitted to being confused about the exit direction.
"Alhamdulillah, so far it's getting more comfortable. The station is also getting larger, the access is more sufficient. The facilities are getting better," he said when approached. Best for you .
Just that, Mita hopes that PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) can increase the number of seats inside and outside Tanah Abang Station.
"For example, some people want to wait like that, so that they don't all scatter like this on the road, otherwise it will interfere with the access of other roads," he added.
Dewi (45), a KRL commuter from Pamulang, South Tangerang, also expressed a similar opinion.
Although she had to cross further when going home at Tanah Abang Station, she said she preferred the concept of the new station building.
"It's neater, more organized. Usually, they used to pile up on platform two and three, now the distribution is more even," said Dewi.
Dewi highlighted the existence of new disability-friendly facilities at this station. She said she was happy to find an elevator in the new building.
"Recently there wasn't an elevator, just a moving walkway," he added.
No further input from the passengers who are accustomed to using KRL for their daily commute.
She just hopes that the number of trains on the Rangkasbitung-Tanah Abang route, and vice versa, is increased even more.
"Especially during the busy hours, it's really bad, like during office closing time. Maybe the train schedule can be added again, maybe every five minutes," he concluded.
