Best for you Here is the guidance for Tahajud Prayer.

Start from the Islamic prayer Tahajjud reading.

Until the method of prayer.

For those of you who want to perform the tahajjud prayer tonight, Sunday, July 6, 2025, don't forget to recite the following prayers.

There are three surahs recommended to be recited by Muslims.

It is because the Prophet Muhammad SAW regularly practiced this prayer during the tahajud prayer.

You may be many of us who wonder about the prayers during the performance of Tahajjud prayer, what are the prayers that need to be recited.

You can perform the prayers that are often recited by the Prophet Muhammad SAW.

The following are the surahs usually recited by the Prophet Muhammad SAW during the tahajjud prayer.

Then, what are the surahs of the Quran that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) recited during the Tahajjud prayer?

The Surah that the Prophet used to recite during Tahajjud Prayer

Actually, the surahs recited by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during Tahajjud prayer have already been discussed by Ustaz Adi Hidayat in a study broadcast on one of the television stations.

The lecture by Ustaz Adi Hidayat discussing the issue was later re-broadcast as a video clip by the YouTube channel Ceramah Pendek.

In a 12-minute video uploaded to YouTube "Ceramah Pendek," Ustaz Adi Hidayat said that there are three types of surahs usually recited by the Prophet when performing Tahajjud prayer.

Which surah is recited by the Prophet?

"Generally, there are three types of surahs that the Prophet SAW usually recites during his night prayers," said Ustadz Adi Hidayat in the video.

Here is the video explanation by Ustaz Adi Hidayat regarding the types of surahs recited by the Prophet during Tahajjud prayer.

- First type of surah

As for the first type of surah, continued Ustadz Adi Hidayat, it is a light surah.

One, a light letter, a light letter,

"I didn't say it's short, remember well, the light letter that is hinted for beginners who perform tahajjud prayer," he explained.

Ustaz Adi Hidayat then gave an example of evidence regarding the first type of surah recited by the Prophet when performing Tahajjud prayer.

The verse is mentioned in Surah Al-Muzzammil, verse 20, as follows.

Indeed, your Lord knows that you stand (in prayer) less than two-thirds of the night, or half of it, or a third of it, and a group among those with you. And Allah measures the night and the day. He knew that you would not be able to keep count (of the prayers), so He turned to you (in mercy). Therefore, recite what is easy for you from the Quran. He knows that there will be among you sick people, and others traveling in the land seeking Allah's grace, and others fighting in the cause of Allah. So recite what is easy for you from it.

Indeed, your Lord knows that you stand (in prayer) less than two-thirds of the night, or half of it, or a third of it, and (also) a group among those who are with you. And Allah has determined the length of the night and the day. Allah knows that you will never be able to keep track of the times, so He has granted you ease. Therefore, recite what is easy for you from the Quran. He knows that there will be among you people who are sick, and people who travel on earth seeking some of Allah's grace; and others who fight in the cause of Allah. So recite what is easy for you from the Quran...

Based on the verse, the first type of surah that can be read in tahajjud is a light surah that has been memorized.

For the Prophet Muhammad SAW, continued by Ustadz Adi, his lightness was 100 verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, or 10 to 11 verses from the end of Surah Ali Imran recited in one rakaat.

"So the lightness of it is relative. Light for the Prophet may not be light for us. But the principle is to find what is easy," explained Ustaz Adi.

- Second type of surah

The second type of surah is the surahs that are arranged in the Quran in order, with the purpose of repeating what is memorized or increasing what is recited.

"Earlier, it was light, but now it's the opposite. It's long, but this length is arranged," he continued.

For those who have memorized the Quran, continued Ustadz Adi, this is an opportunity to review their memorization as done by the companions of the Prophet Muhammad.

- Third type of surah

Next, the third type of surah is choosing surahs that suit the needs or requirements of the person performing tahajjud.

Ustaz Adi Hidayat said that this type of surah is the least performed by those who carry out tahajjud prayer.

"This is the last type, and it is rarely done. However, the Prophet, who is often mentioned in the traditions, frequently exemplified this," said Ustaz Adi Hidayat.

For example, choosing surahs that suit the needs, for instance, for those who are seeking livelihood, it is better to read verses about provision to ask for ease from Allah SWT.

For other matters required by the person performing tahajjud prayer, one can choose appropriate verses to recite in tonight's night worship.

As known, all surahs of the Quran contain guidelines for life, and all issues related to life are in it.

How to Perform Tahajud Prayer

1. Intention

In the YouTube video titled "Is the Intention in Prayer Required to Be Spoken Out Loud?" by Taman Surga TV, Ustaz Adi Hidayat explains about the verbalization of the intention for prayer.

She explained that intention is a mandatory act that must be carried out so that an action can be categorized as worship.

"The words of Imam Asy-Syafii, the intention (for prayer) is present in the heart at the same time as the takbir. You raise your hands like this, your tongue says 'Allahuakbar' in your heart, and you show 'I intend to perform the Dhuhr prayer,' " he explained.

The intention is recited in Indonesian or the native language of the speaker in the heart.

There is no guidance or example from the Prophet regarding the utterance of intention in prayer.

However, the Prophet made the intention during umrah and hajj.

Making the intention in prayer is done in certain conditions.

If someone in a state of anxiety can focus on worship.

However, this condition is only done when there is an extraordinary obsession.

The use of intention in Arabic occurred because the Prophet and his companions used this language as their native language.

As for some scholars, they give examples of the intention for Tahajjud prayer as follows

I perform two rak'ahs of the Tahajjud prayer for Allah, the Exalted. Allah is Great.

It means: I intend to perform two units of voluntary Tahajjud prayer for the sake of Allah. Allahu Akbar.

2. Takbiratul ihram, followed by the iftitah prayer

3. Reading Surah Al-Fatihah

4. Reading the Quran.

5. Ruku' with tuma'ninah

6. I'tidal with tuma'ninah

7. Sujud with tranquility

8. Sitting between two prostrations with tuma'ninah

9. Second prostration with tuma'ninah

10. Stand up again to perform the second rakaat

11. Reading Surah Al-Fatihah

12. Reading a surah from the Quran.

13. Ruku' with tuma'ninah

14. I'tidal with tuma'ninah

15. Sujud with tranquility

16. Sitting between two prostrations with tuma'ninah

19. Hello

20. The prayer that follows is:

Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

Meaning:

O Allah, our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and save us from the punishment of the fire of Hell.

Or another hadith that the Prophet recited a prayer:

O Allah, our Lord, all praise is for You. You are the One who established the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. And all praise is for You, You are the King of the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. And all praise is for You, You are the Light of the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. And all praise is for You, You are the Truth. Your promise is the Truth. Meeting You is the Truth. Your Word is the Truth. Paradise is the Truth. And the Fire is the Truth. And the Prophets are the Truth. And Muhammad is the Truth. And the Hour is the Truth.

O Allah, I surrender to You. I believe in You. I put my trust in You. I turn to You. I submit to You. I judge by You. Forgive me what I have done before, and what I have done later, what I have hidden, and what I have revealed, and what You know better than me. You are the one who precedes and You are the one who delays. There is no god but You. And there is no power or strength except with Allah.

Meaning:

O Allah, our Lord, all praise is for You. You are the One who upholds the heavens, the earth, and all creatures within them. All praise is for You. You are the sovereign of the heavens, the earth, and all creatures within them. All praise is for You. You are the light of the heavens, the earth, and all creatures within them. All praise is for You. You are the Most Truthful. Your promise is true. Meeting You is certainly true. Your Word is true. Paradise is real. Hell is also real. The prophets are true. Likewise, Prophet Muhammad SAW is true. The Day of Judgment is certainly true.

O Lord, I surrender myself to You. I believe in You alone. I submit myself to You. I return to You alone. Because of You, I am willing to quarrel. My decision is based solely on You. Therefore, forgive my past and future sins, the sins I have hidden and those I have revealed, and other sins that You know better than I do. You are the First and the Last. There is no god but You. There is no power or strength except by the help of Allah.
