Rodrygo's value might put off Arsenal

Real Madrid boss, Xabi Alonso has commented on Arsenal's interest in signing Rodrygo, who fell down the pecking order under former Coach Carlo Ancelotti.
The Brazilian struggled for game time due to Madrid's attacking trio of Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe. He has spent six years at the Bernabeu after signing in 2019 at the age of 19.
Mikel Arteta is determined to improve Arsenal's attack ahead of the 2025/2026 season, but they will think hard before negotiating for a player valued at £70million by Real.
Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also making noise in Rodrygo's direction, which could push the price up even higher.
Xabi is concerned that with all the attention, Rodrygo's head is not completely focused on the job in hand, which is winning the Club World Cup. After playing for 65 minutes in Madrid's opening match against Al-Hilal, he has enjoyed only 23 minutes of action and was an unused substitute against
Pachuca and Juventus.
Xabi said, 'I am sure Rodrygo can return to his best form. I spoke with him; he is positive, eager and ready when needed.'Latest United bid for Mbeumo rejected
Manchester United's latest bid for Bryan Mbeumo has been rejected by Brentford, bringing a halt to the whole process. The Bees are convinced that their man, who they do not want to lose, is worth in excess of £60 million, and United's latest bid is £55 million, plus £7.5 million in add-ons based on performance and appearances.Tottenham and Newcastle were also interested in signing Mbeumo but have now distanced themselves and are pursuing other options. The player himself has said yes to a move to Old Trafford, but so far, United have not improved their offer.
Brentford have monitored the recent sale of Joao Pedro for £60 million and Newcastle's £55 million bid for Nottingham Forest's Anthony Elanga, which they believe puts Mbeumo in the £60 million plus bracket. Last season, the 25-year-old finished joint fourth with 20 goals.
Players under threat as Arsenal rebuild
The situation at Arsenal is complicated, but there is no doubt their recruitment team under Andrea Berta is working hard. There might be problems for several established players if Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke arrive at the Emirates.
Leandro Trossard signed for Arsenal in January 2023 and added potency to the Arsenal attack, advancing from the left wing. His goals and assists have been impressive.
His contract is set to expire next summer and selling now would gain the Gunners maximum price. If he stays, Trossard will demand game time so he can qualify for
Belgium's World Cup squad next year, which is vitally important to him.
Gabriel Jesus is in much the same position as he hopes to head for the World Cup with Brazil. Injuries have blighted his progress at Arsenal and he might find it difficult to get back into the squad on a regular basis if Gyokeres arrives and Kai Havertz is used as back up to the Swedish striker.
Despite an impressive introduction to Arsenal's forward line, 18-year-old Ethan Nwaneri will be under pressure if Noni Madueke arrives at the Emirates, and he will be under further threat if Arsenal manage to capture Crystal Palace attacking midfielder, Eberechi Eze, which they are negotiating at the moment.
Forest moving in the right direction
After a season punching above their weight and impressing on several fronts, Nottingham Forest prepare to go again, and have tied down Coach Nuno Espirito Santo to a new three year contract. Full back Neco Williams has also agreed a new deal.
Forest said this week that they had definitely signed striker, Igor Jesus, who is their first player recruited this summer.
Next challenge for Forest is Callum Hudson-Odoi; and they want to tie the winger down to a long contract. And I am told that good progress is being made.
Forest have given an update on full back, Ola Aina, and he has signed a new three year deal.
Son Heung-min wants to stay at Spurs
As captain of Tottenham Hotspur and a loyal servant to the club for 10 years, Son Heung-min earns £200k a week or £10m a year. His contract expires in
12 months and at 32 years-of-age there are rumours circulating that he could leave the north London club.
I have learned that Sonny will reject advances from Los Angeles FC in the American MLS league but there is still interest from Saudi Arabia. He is open to a move if it is the right one but says he does not need to rush into a decision and he will probably wait to see how things work out with newly appointed coach Thomas Frank.
The Harry Kane, Son Heung-min partnership was fantastic to watch and arguably kept Spurs in the top half of the Premier League, however they could not win a trophy. Harry left but Sonny finally achieved his ambition when the club won the Europa League, which automatically qualifies them for the Champions League next season and that is his main motivation to stay with Tottenham.
Supporters want Diogo Jota's shirt to be retired
Liverpool fans have petitioned for Diogo Jota's No20 shirt to be retired and never to be worn again in tribute to their star forward, who was killed in a car crash last week. The striker died alongside his brother, Andre Silva, who played in the second division in Spain, when his Lambourghini blew a tyre during overtaking, turned over and caught fire.
Previous shirts to be retired were Jude Bellingham's No22 when he left Birmingham City, Diego Maradona's Napoli No10 and West Ham legendary No6, Bobby Moore, who is often described as the best defender ever to come out of the UK.
Injuries force Tomiyasu to leave Arsenal
Arsenal's Takehiro Tomiyasu is a player who lives football day to day - it is his life and he embraces it. I feel genuinely sorry for having suffered prolonged knee and calf injuries which restricted his appearances over the past three seasons and last year he managed only six minutes of game time.
Takehiro has a contract until 2026 with a further option of one year, but after a heart-to-heart meeting with club officials, the 26-year-old has agreed to leave the Emirates this summer.
Kyle Walker back in Premier League
Manchester City defender, Kyle Walker is set to return to the Premier League with Burnley. He has already taken a medical and agreed a £5 million contract, which will take him to Burnley's home at Turf Moor for two years.
Kyle spent the last two years at AC Milan and made 16 appearances, but the Italian giants decided not to take up the option to sign him permanently.
Glimmer of hope for Rashford
Marcus Rashford still wants to join Barcelona for the next season and there appears to be a glimmer of hope for the Manchester United forward.
Barcelona have failed to sign either Luis Diaz from Liverpool or Nico Williams from Atletico Madrid. Liverpool have turned down both Bayern Munich and Barca, with the Red's stating quite clearly that Diaz is not for sale, and a week ago, Nico Williams signed a 10-year-deal with Atletico; and therefore, a door for Rashford to move to Barca has opened slightly.
