September 2025 There will be 2 Eclipses, 1 Time Visible in Indonesia, This is the Result of Aceh Astronomy Experts' Study

For the total lunar eclipse will occur on September 7, 2025 AD, 15 Rabiul Awal 1447 AH.

Saiful Bahri Report I Lhokseumawe

Best for you, LHOKSEUMAWE - According to the astronomical studies, there will be two eclipses in September 2025.

Both eclipses are total lunar eclipse and partial lunar eclipse.

For the total lunar eclipse will take place on September 7, 2025 AD, 15 Rabiul Awal 1447 AH.

Meanwhile, the partial solar eclipse will occur on September 22, 2025 M, 29 Rabiul Awal 1447.

However, of the two remaining eclipses occurring this year 2025, only one can be seen from the sky of Indonesia, including in the Aceh region, which is a total lunar eclipse.

Here is the explanation from Aceh's astronomical expert, who is also a lecturer of Islamic Astronomy at the Faculty of Syariah, UIN Sultanah Nahrasiyah Lhokseumawe, Dr. Tgk Ismail S.Sy M.A.

Tgk Ismail explained that an eclipse is an event where the light from a source is blocked by another object.

Like being blocked by the sun's light by the moon, causing a solar eclipse, and being blocked by the earth's light causing a lunar eclipse.

A solar eclipse occurs during the new moon phase, while a lunar eclipse occurs during the full moon phase.

However, not every new moon will result in a solar eclipse, and not every full moon will result in a lunar eclipse.

This is because the moon's orbital plane around the Earth is not parallel to the Earth's orbital plane around the Sun, but the moon's orbital plane is tilted at an angle of about 5 degrees.

If the Moon's orbital plane were the same as the Earth's orbital plane, it would certainly mean that during every new moon, a solar eclipse would occur, and during every full moon, a lunar eclipse would occur.

Next, solar eclipses are known to have four types. First, a total solar eclipse, where during the peak of the eclipse, the entire disk of the sun is covered by the disk of the moon, so the sun appears black and emits a beautiful corona light.

Second, partial eclipse, where during the peak of the eclipse, only a part of the sun's disk is covered by the moon's disk.

Third, annular eclipse, named as "ring" because during the peak of the eclipse, the moon's disk only covers the center of the sun's disk, so the sun appears to glow only on the outer edge, which looks like a ring, and the center of the sun appears black.

Fourth, hybrid eclipses, where during the peak of the eclipse, in one area a total solar eclipse is visible and in another area it appears as an annular eclipse. This last type of eclipse is considered a relatively rare or uncommon eclipse event.

There are three types of lunar eclipses.

First, a total lunar eclipse, when at the peak of the eclipse, the entire disk of the moon enters the Earth's umbra (core) shadow, so the moon appears reddish-black at that time.

Second, a partial lunar eclipse, where during the peak of the eclipse, only part of the moon's surface enters the Earth's umbra shadow.

Third, penumbral lunar eclipse, where the moon only enters the outer shadow cone of the Earth (not the inner shadow of the Earth), not reaching the inner shadow (umbra).

At the time this eclipse occurs, visually, the moon only appears dim, not emitting strong light as it does during other full moons.

To know the process of the occurrence of a penumbral eclipse, a telescope must be used.

In 2025, there will be 4 eclipses globally, 2 solar eclipses and 2 lunar eclipses.

1. Total Lunar Eclipse, March 14, 2025 AD, 14 Ramadan 1446 AH (Already occurred).

2. Partial Solar Eclipse, March 29, 2025 AD, 29 Ramadan 1446 AH (Already occurred).

3. Total Lunar Eclipse, September 7, 2025 M, 15 Rabiul Awal 1447 H.

4. Partial Solar Eclipse, September 22, 2025 AD, 29 Rabiul Awal 1447 H.

Of the 4 eclipses that will occur in 2025, furthermore, only the total lunar eclipse on September 7, 2025, can be seen from Aceh and Indonesia.

For other eclipses, none can be seen from Aceh, this is because the eclipse area does not pass over any land in Aceh and Indonesia.

Total Lunar Eclipse on September 7, 2025, which occurs in the middle of Rabi'ul Awal 1447 Hijriah can be observed throughout the entire territory of Indonesia and most of the landmass on the surface of the Earth.

Other regions that can observe the eclipse are Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia.

In detail, the eclipse process is as follows:

Magnitude Umbra: 1.3619.

Umbra Duration: 03 hours 29 minutes 24 seconds.

Total: 01 hour 22 minutes 06 seconds.

Umbra Contact 1 : 23:27:02 WIB.

Umbra Contact 2: 00:30:41 WIB (8 September 2025).

Total Eclipse: 01:11:43,1 WIB.

Umbra Contact 3: 01:52:47 WIB.

Umbra Contact 4: 02:56:26 WIB. (*)
