Provincial rankings are based on the 2024 Regional Competitiveness Index (IDSD) released by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
The IDSD score is obtained from the assessment results of the 12 main pillars.
These pillars include institutions, infrastructure, adoption of information and communication technology (ICT), macroeconomic stability, health, workforce skills, product markets, labor markets, financial systems, market size, business dynamics, and innovation capacity.
Each region is assessed based on the strengths and challenges in each of these aspects.
Generally, outstanding regions have good governance, adequate infrastructure, and actively promote innovation and local economic growth.
This achievement reflects that the competitiveness of a region does not only depend on its status as a big city.

With a score of 4.26, Bandung City leads this list. Behind it are Bogor City, Depok City, Bekasi City, and Tasikmalaya City.
This ranking shows the dynamics of development and competitiveness between regions in West Java.

IDSD measures the productivity and progress of regions using the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) framework from the World Economic Forum (WEF).

These productivity drivers are incorporated into four main components and elaborated through 12 competitiveness pillars.
