Viral Story of Zaki, an Elementary School Student in Indramayu Facing a Lawsuit from His Grandfather

Best for you, INDRAMAYU - The story of Zaki Fasa Idan (12), a primary school boy from Indramayu, West Java, fighting against his grandfather's lawsuit has touched many people's hearts.
Not only lawyers were moved and provided legal assistance, but Zaki's struggle also became a serious concern for West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi.
Zaki, who is still in fifth grade of elementary school, has to face a bitter reality.
She was sued in court by her own biological grandfather.
This family conflict arose due to a dispute over the ownership of a house that once belonged to Zaki's late father.
She lives in a house shared with her mother Rastiah (37) and her brother Heryatno (20).
Zaki and his family live in a simple house in Karangsong Village, Indramayu District/Regency.
Not only Zaki was involved in this conflict, the older brother Heryatno (20) and his mother, Rastiah (37), also became the parties accused in the case.
Feeling discouraged by the situation, Zaki then performed a touching action that moved many people's hearts.
She unfurled a banner containing a plea for her fate to be noticed.
The banner contains a plea from Zaki to various important figures, starting from the Regency Court Chairman of Indramayu, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, West Java Deputy DPRD Ono Surono, up to Indramayu Regent Lucky Hakim.
Dedi Mulyadi Provides Assistance to Zaki and His Family
This action of Zaki apparently touched the heart of West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi.
Dedi Mulyadi responded by inviting Zaki, his mother, and his older brother to his residence to provide direct attention.
Dedi not only gave encouragement and moral support to the small family, but also facilitated free legal assistance through a lawyer.
"I have met Zaki, his older brother, mother, and uncle. This is a family left behind by his late father," said Dedi Mulyadi in a video received by Tribuncirebon.com, Monday (7/7/2025).
According to Dedi, Zaki's family has been living in the house for years, since their father passed away. However, the house ownership documents are still registered under the name of the paternal grandmother.
This situation is the opening for the lawsuit filed by their biological grandparents. The house has now become a dispute, and Zaki along with his family have been asked to leave the residence they have lived in for a long time.
"Indeed, as the Governor of West Java, I would like to thank them because the people of West Java are helped by lawyers who are not paid," he said.
Dedi stated that the legal assistance was provided by a lawyer named Yopi, who is based in Tegal, Central Java. The assistance was purely voluntary and given without any compensation.
At that meeting, Dedi once asked Rastiah whether there was a local lawyer in Indramayu who was willing to help them.
"No," answered Zaki's mother.
Hearing the answer, Dedi once again expressed his appreciation for Yopi's sincere assistance in Zaki's and his family's legal struggle.
"Hopefully they can win in court," he said.
However, Dedi also conveyed a wise message in case the court's decision does not favor Zaki's family. He advised them to let go of the house if it must be sold to avoid prolonged conflicts.
"Because Allah provides livelihood to anyone who tries. Don't be afraid of losing your house, the one who should be afraid is if you lose hope," said Dedi Mulyadi.
Family House Dispute Case Zaki
According to a statement quoted from Tribuncirebon.com, the essence of this family conflict began with a dispute over the ownership of a house that was originally owned by Zaki's late father.
However, the house ownership document is still registered under the name of the father's grandmother.
That situation became the opening for the grandparent's lawsuit, leading to a property dispute.
Zaki and his family were asked to leave the residence they had lived in for a long time.
Although Zaki's family had been living in the house for years, since his father passed away.
Heryatno, Zaki's older brother, said that the simple house was the second home of their parents, and Zaki has been living there all along.
Their family has been living here for 15 years, or since Heryatno was 5 years old.
Heryatno admitted he was surprised when he suddenly received a notice that they had been sued by his grandfather.
Then Heryatno stated that so far their family relationship with the grandfather is still good.
"I myself am very sorry why grandfather and grandmother are so harsh to me and my younger sibling," he said.
This lawsuit is known to have been filed at the Indramayu District Court (PN). Heryatno hopes that this case can be resolved properly.
"I really want this issue to be resolved peacefully. So that we can all be calm, not continue like this forever," he said.
The spokesperson of Indramayu District Court, Adrian Anju Purba, confirmed the existence of a land dispute case involving a minor.
The lawsuit is registered under case number 34/Pdt.G/2025/PN Idm.
Adrian Anju Purba said that the case has already been heard for the first time on July 2, 2025.
However, the court postponed the trial because the third defendant in this case, ZI, did not appear. The session was attended only by the first defendant (Mrs. ZI) and the second defendant (ZI's sibling).
The session will be rescheduled for July 16, 2025, with a pre-mediation agenda.
"The session was postponed and will continue on July 16, 2025, to wait for the completeness of the parties' attendance," he said.
Zaki's Assistant from Outside West Java
Amidst the difficult situation of Zaki and his family, a kind-hearted figure emerged like a hero, willing to come to their aid selflessly.
Zaki's assistant is named Yopi, who is a lawyer from Tegal, Central Java.
Yopi also came under the spotlight for being willing to help Zaki's family face the lawsuit from his grandfather and grandmother.
