Preparation of Persib Bandung and Port FC
Persib Bandung coach Bojan Hodak admitted that his team is in a poor condition ahead of the 2025 President's Cup, especially in terms of preparation.
Especially because the new team has just started meetings and has only trained for one week.
"This is not a good time, but they asked us to play, so there's no choice. We will combine the team and use this as preparation for the league and for the Champions League qualification matches," said Bojan during a press conference at SJH Stadium on Saturday (7/5/2025).
However, previously Persib had never won a match against Port FC, but Bojan still aimed for a victory.
The target of every match is to win, and this is not only applicable to Persib. But I don't want to put pressure on the players because I don't really want to play,
"But they want us to play only one week (since starting the training schedule). We are not yet physically or mentally fit, and our technique and tactics are also not ready enough. But we will play, and everyone has the same chance. We will see later," he said.
Although the preparation done is not sufficient, Bojan emphasized, as he has said before, that when playing, his team tries to win.
"But in this tournament, we don't have the pressure to win necessarily. However, of course we will do our best, and I hope we are always getting better," he said.
Meanwhile, Port FC coach Alexandre Gama admitted that he knows this President's Cup is a pre-season competition, but he also knows it is an important pre-season tournament.
"We came here to represent Thai football, we came with many new players, and we hope to play well," said Gama.
Gama stated that his team came to Bandung to win this tournament because they are professional, and his team wants to win.
"We respect all teams, but when we come here, we will show how Port plays and represent Thai football. I hope my team can play well, even if not 100 percent, I hope the players can play 90 minutes with good level," he said.
Gama admitted that he wants to say this is a big match and Persib Bandung is playing at home, his team respects them.
"We will not easily face the champion (Indonesian League) because they also play well. We know how they play, but Persib Bandung is also like us, they have also brought in many new players. This is a new season," said Gama.
Gama said that last season he was not yet at Port FC (when participating in the AFC Champions League Two), but he admitted he knew that Persib played against Port.
However, he knows a lot about Indonesian football because he has been working in Thailand for a long time and follows Indonesian football.
"I know that Bandung has good defenses, and receives good support," he said.
