29 Passengers Still Missing, Victims' Family of KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya Scatters Flowers in the Bali Strait

Based on data from the SAR Post at Ketapang Port, as of Saturday (7/5), the number of survivors from the sinking of KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya was recorded as 30 people.
Nine people were found dead, while 29 other passengers of KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya are still missing.
Previously reported, the KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya carried a total of 53 passengers, 12 crew members, and 22 vehicles before finally sinking in the waters of the Bali Strait.
The search area for the victims of KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya is being expanded. Likewise, the number of personnel deployed has also increased.
The Head of Denpasar Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas) Bali, I Nyoman Sidakarya stated that the search area for the victims of KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya was collected in stages. For example, on the day of the incident, the search area focused on the northern side of the ship from the estimated sinking point.
However, after information about the victim being found on the southern side emerged, the search finally focused more on the southern side.
Search for victims, next, still uses air and water main equipment (Alut). For air element equipment, the search targets the eastern side.
"Approximately 269.38 square nautical miles in area," he said.
Meanwhile, for the naval assets, the search is still using a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB).
Monitoring at Gilimanuk Bay, officers have been making various preparations since 07:30 WITA. In addition to RIB, the search for victims from the sea uses Rigid Buoyancy Boat (RBB) BWI, the KRI Tongkol ship, KN SAR Permadi, KN SAR Arjuna, KNP Granti, KRI Teluk Ende, and KP Hiu Macan Tutul 02.
Search personnel are also added. Additional search personnel were deployed at Pebuahan Beach. The reason is that many victims were found there from the KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya.
"We also ask the community or fishermen who are at sea and helping with the search, if they see any signs of crew members or passengers, to immediately inform ASDP or contact the call center 115," he said.
Flower Throwing Action
Meanwhile, the victims' family of the sinking of KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya carried out a flower-throwing action in the Bali Strait from the Ketapang Port wharf, Banyuwangi, East Java, on Saturday (7/5).
A couple from Banyuwangi, Ahmad and Suryani, scattered flowers while praying for the safety of their son and daughter-in-law, Bintang Nur Hidayat (28) and Ely (21), who were victims of a shipwreck.
"Of course we want them to be found alive, but if they have already died, we want to see their body," said Suryani, the mother of Bintang, as quoted by Antaranews.
Suryani revealed that her daughter-in-law, Ely, is five months pregnant and accompanied her husband to deliver rice to Bali using a Fuso truck on Wednesday (7/2) night.
"I just heard the news (Thursday, 3/7) at 7:00 WIB from my relative, and I checked the vehicle's number, which turned out to be the one taken by my son (Bintang)," he said.
He added that usually the son does not take his wife on long trips, but this time Ely chose to go along.
"My daughter-in-law is five months pregnant and just married in February 2025. Right now, we can only wait and pray that our son and daughter-in-law are found," he said with deep emotion.
Amid the search for victims, the confusion of the passenger manifest data of KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya has made the families of the victims who came to the information post at Ketapang Port feel confused. The Basarnas party stated that they continue to conduct verification and reconfirmation of passenger data.
One case is the name Tri Wahyudi and Wahyudi, who were initially considered as one person, but after rechecking, they turned out to be two different people. Both were then included in the list of survivors.
Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi also emphasized that the verification process continues. His party will reconfirm whether there are passengers who are not recorded or survived but did not report. "Please be patient," he said.
Tim SAR joint again continued the search efforts for 29 victims of the sinking of KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya in the Bali Strait waters.
On the fourth day of this search, Saturday (7/5/2025), the joint SAR team will re-deploy sea and air assets, with reinforcement from Koarmada II and Pushidrosal.
Deputy of Operations and Preparedness from Basarnas, R. Eko Suyatno stated that the reinforcement from Koarmada II includes KRI Fanildo 732, one Phanter helicopter equipped with sonar capable of detecting objects underwater, as well as two diving teams from Dislambair and Satkopaska.
Furthermore, he explained that with the reinforcement of equipment from Koarmada II and experts from Pushidrosal, it is expected to be able to find the exact datum (last position) or the location where KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya sank.
Meanwhile, preparation steps are being carried out in case the exact date is known, such as medical check-ups at Banyuwangi General Hospital for 22 divers, as well as preparation of supporting diving equipment.
Nanang Sigit, Head of the Surabaya SAR Office and On Scene Coordinator of the Search and Rescue Unit (OSC SRU) Air, explained that two helicopters are conducting the search today, namely the Dauphin HR 3606 Basarnas helicopter and the Bell 249 Baharkam Polri helicopter. These two air assets will carry out the search from the northern area towards the southern direction.
Danlanal Banyuwangi as the OSC SRU Sea Lieutenant Commander Muhamad Puji Santoso explained that the search efforts at sea have been expanded up to 20 nautical miles to the south.
Among the sea vehicles used, including KRI Tongkol 517, KRI Teluk Ende 813, KN SAR 249 Permadi, KN SAR Arjuna, KNP Grantin, KP Bima 7014 Polairud, Payaman Patrol Boat, KN Cundamani, KP Hiu Macan Tutul 02, RIB 03 and RBB Pos SAR Banyuwangi, RIB 01 Pos SAR Jembrana, and Polairud RIB.
Meanwhile, Danrem 083/ Baladhika Jaya stated that the ground SRU consisting of combined personnel from the Army, Police, and some volunteers, conducted a sweep along the coastal area in Banyuwangi.
Based on data from BMKG, Banyuwangi Meteorological Station Class III, in the morning until the afternoon, weather conditions in the Bali Strait waters are expected to be cloudy with light rain, wind speed ranging between 4 to 20 knots, wave height ranging from 0.5 to 2 meters, visibility 3 to 8 km, and current speed of 1.5 to 2 m/s towards the south.
