NTT Tourism, Fatumnasi Offers the Beauty of Bonsai Forests, i Enters the Top 50 Tourist Villages ADWI 2024

POS KUPANG.COM -- It is generally not a mistake to visit Kupang or Timor Island, and it is almost worth visiting Fatumnasi Village.

Recently, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) designated Desa Fatumnasi, Fatumnasi District, Timor Tengah Selatan Regency (TTS) as one of the 50 best tourist villages in Indonesia in the Anugerah Desa Wisata Indonesia 2024.

The award was marked by the presentation of a plaque and certificate by Director of Destination Governance, Mrs. Florida Pardosi, to the Acting Regent of TTS, Edison Sipa, at the bonsai forest tourist attraction in TTS in August 2024.

Edison said, their party is very happy and proud because Desa Fatumnasi has entered the category of 50 best tourist villages in Indonesia.

Previously, the Fatumnasi tourist destination, through the beauty of the bonsai forest, also received the Anugerah Pesona Indonesia (API) award. He hopes that the TTS Regency Government (Pemkab TTS) will receive more support from the central government in developing the tourist destinations in TTS.

"Director's wife, the tourist destinations in TTS Regency are very numerous. Besides the natural beauty of Fatumnasi, there are Kolbano Beach, Oetune Beach, garden area, Oehela Waterfall and several other tourist attractions," he said, citing suaratts.com.

Therefore, Edison hopes that the central government will fully support the development of these tourist destinations. Meanwhile, Florida said that they are impressed and happy to experience the natural beauty of Fatumnasi Village directly.

She hopes that the designation of Fatumnasi Village as the best tourism village in the pilot category will encourage the relevant parties to preserve and maintain the natural beauty and local wisdom of the area.

"It's like a dream come true for me to be here in Fatumnasi. The nature is truly beautiful, the culture is very unique, and the people are very friendly," he said.

She added that after being designated as the best tourist village, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will hold a tourism village assistance program.

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will also support the development of facilities in Fatumnasi Tourism Village based on the village's needs identification.

This is aimed at helping the development of Fatumnasi Tourism Village so that in the future it can upgrade from a pilot project to an established one.

Kemenparekraf will also build collaboration with strategic partner forums that will support Fatumnasi Tourism Village by bringing corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs into Fatumnasi Village.

In addition, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) will build communication with the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) to increase funds for Fatumnasi Tourism Village.

"We will urge the Ministry of Finance to provide additional village funds to support the development of Fatumnasi tourism. We ask for your prayers and support so that the Ministry of Finance can respond to this," he said.

Paradise and Pine Forest

Translated text:

Throughout the journey, we can enjoy the towering pine trees between the winding road ascending to the peak.

With green leaves waving beautifully, the journey seems to be traversing an unknown world.

The sensation of light mist that falls, especially during rain, will give a unique feeling during the journey.

Here are several photo spots, such as one at Tomenas Peak, which will offer a landscape of black-colored stone mountains.

Heading toward another hilltop, we can witness a very beautiful sunset view.

To reach here requires caution while driving, as the road to the top is quite winding and steep. Capturing the evening sunlight from here provides a different atmosphere.

The cold and windy weather forces you to wear a thick jacket, otherwise you might catch a cold.

Gunung Mutis Nature Reserve: Home of Endemic Flora and Fauna. Besides enjoying the pine forest, another place that must be visited during your stay in Fatumnasi is Gunung Mutis Nature Reserve located at an altitude of 2427 meters above sea level.

Interestingly, Gunung Mutis Nature Reserve is located in two districts. Approximately 80 percent of the area is within the jurisdiction of TTS Regency, and the remaining 20 percent is in the area of Central Timor Utara (TTU) Regency.

This area is home to various endemic flora, such as Ampupu or Eucalyptus urophylla. Besides ampupu, there is also sandalwood (Santalum album), mountain casuarina (Casuarina equisetifolia), manuk moto (Decaspermum fruticosum), haubesi (Olea paniculata), as well as several other species of flora that cover the land with hilly topography up to forming mountains.

This Mutis Nature Reserve is also home to several endemic animals such as the Timor deer (Cervus timorensis), Timor python (Phyton timorensis), Timor cobra (Apromictus jonguilaccus), Timor imperial pigeon (Ducula cineracea), Timor green pigeon (Treron psittacea), and also the Timor monitor lizard.

In addition, this area is inhabited by 31 protected bird species, six of which are endemic to Timor.

Also sixteen kinds of butterflies, enriching this area of 12 hectares. The beautiful Bonsai Forest, the ampupu trees are mostly found in Fatumnasi. Usually, the height of these trees can reach dozens of meters.

However, in certain locations, the height of these trees only reaches 2.5 meters, which is commonly called forest bonsai.

The average age of these ampupu trees can reach several decades to hundreds of years. On the trunk of each ampupu tree, moss grows, giving a different atmosphere. The beauty of the bonsai here is comparable to the contrasting soil color.

The green color of the trees looks very beautiful on the red-brown soil. Here, there are usually many visitors who take photos to capture the moment, as they don't want to miss the fascinating landscape.

Former Marble Mine Location in Fatumnasi, there was a marble mine, but this place stopped operating due to protests by residents and environmentalists.

This marble mine site is located not far from the lake and Tomenas hill. To reach this former mine area, we can use a motorcycle or a car.

This former mining location still leaves many large marble fragments arranged randomly, making this place one of the must-visit spots.

The brownish color of the marble combines with the green of Fatumnasi grass, giving a beautiful impression when viewed. The fairly high rainfall here makes the green color of Fatumnasi grass always bright.

In another part, there is a section of marble hills that has been partially cut. This location has become one of the spots used for self-photography or creating beautiful moments with family or loved ones. (Kompas/*)
