She said the program is planned to be held in 100 locations of public schools spread across various areas. The Minister of Social Affairs ensured that all preparations for the first stage are almost final and ready to start according to the scheduled agenda.
"On July 9th, the Ministry of Social Affairs will also hold a simulation at two locations, namely Sentra Handayani in Bambu Apus, East Jakarta; and Sentra Terpadu Pangudi Luhur (STPL) in Bekasi, to ensure technical readiness on the ground," he said.
Mensos revealed that the public school curriculum still includes general lessons, but adds character education and extracurricular activities, to shape children who are smart, have character, and love Indonesia.
Regarding the official launch together with President Prabowo Subianto, Gus Ipul said the timing will still be adjusted according to the head of state's schedule. However, orientation and matriculation activities are expected to start on July 14, 2025, so students and teachers can immediately become active in school.
Gus Ipul closed the Second Phase of the People's School Principals Retreat at the Center for Education, Training and Professional Development (Pusdiklatbangprof) of the Ministry of Social Welfare in Margaguna, Jakarta, Saturday.

The II Stage Head Teacher Retreat is held from July 1 to 5, 2025, at Pusdiklatbangprof Margaguna Kemensos and Resimen Arhanud I Falatehan, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta. A total of 47 head teachers participated in this activity.
In front of the public school principals, Gus Ipul said that many parties are concerned about the implementation of public schools, which is Prabowo's idea.

1,469 Teachers Ready to Teach at 100 People's Schools Sites

100 Permanent Primary Schools to Start Construction in September
Gus Ipul mentioned that the Ministry of Social Affairs, together with the Ministry of Public Works, is ready to start building 100 permanent people's schools in September 2025. The construction is expected to be completed by June 2026.
She said that the permanent school building has a capacity of about 1,000 students per school and includes elementary school (SD), junior high school (SMP), and senior high school (SMA).
"Currently, this is a pilot people's school utilizing central and regional government facilities, and now its number of classes is limited, with some having two to four classes. However, the permanent school will be able to accommodate many more," he said.
In addition to preparing the new building, he said, the Ministry of Social Affairs is also preparing the recruitment process for teachers, school principals, educational staff, and students simultaneously with the renovation and construction. Currently, the first 100 points of people's schools have recorded more than 9,700 students, while the second stage is targeted to accommodate about 10,000 students.
According to Gus Ipul, the development of permanent people's schools is also accompanied by adjustments to the kitchen, dormitories, and other supporting facilities to meet national standards. "The most important thing is that we all collaborate; it cannot be done alone. If we work together, inshaallah this target can be achieved," he said.
