Persib Bandung will face an initial test in the 2025 President's Cup pre-season tournament, only five days after starting their first training session on Monday (6/30/2025).
Coach Bojan Hodak admitted that his team is not in ideal condition, both physically, technically, and mentally.
"we are not yet physically and mentally fit, our techniques and tactics are also not yet ready," Hodak said in a press conference on Saturday (7/5/2025).
Nevertheless, the Croatian coach emphasized that Maung Bandung will still perform at their best without burdening the players with high targets.
"We will play and everyone has the same chance. We will see later," he added.
Hodak also highlighted the tournament schedule, which he considered too fast, especially since several new foreign players have joined the squad. In his opinion, the President's Cup should be held at the end of July, not at the beginning of the month.
"They said we have to play because we are the Liga 1 champions. It should normally be held at the end of July, but they want us to play only one week," he explained.
This tournament also raised some concerns for Hodak. He remembered the injury incident of Febri Hariyadi last season, who suffered an ACL injury in a similar event. Therefore, Hodak does not want to force a win target to maintain the players' condition.
"During the game, of course we will try to win. But in this tournament, we don't have the pressure to definitely win," he emphasized.
The 53-year-old coach emphasized that the President's Cup will be used as part of the preparation for the 2025/2026 Liga 1 and the AFC Champions League Two (ACL II) qualification.
“Kami akan menggabungkan tim dan memanfaatkan turnamen ini sebagai persiapan untuk liga dan laga kualifikasi ACL II,” tutup Hodak.
