Best for you, JAKARTA - Tim SAR gabungan, Sabtu (5/7/2025), struggled to find 29 passengers of KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya who had not yet been found.

Although it did not produce results, the joint SAR team seems to have found the wreck of the KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya ship that ran aground at the bottom of the Bali Strait.

As known, a disaster struck the ship KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya on Wednesday (7/2/2025) midnight, when it was about to cross from Gilimanuk Port, Bali, to Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi, East Java.

KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya at that time carried 65 officially registered people, consisting of 53 passengers and 12 crew members, as well as 22 vehicles.

So far, 30 passengers have been found, six in a deceased condition.

Then there are 29 people whose whereabouts remain mysterious.

In the midst of the search for passengers of KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya, the joint SAR team reported the discovery of an object on the seabed at a depth of 40-60 meters in the Bali Strait.

There are suspicions that the large object is the KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya ship.

This discovery occurred on the third day of the search, Saturday (7/5/2025), and immediately became the focus of attention.

Deputy Head of the Search and Rescue Readiness Operational Field, Ribut Eko Suyanto, stated that the object was identified by the Navigation Directorate of the Ministry of Transportation.

"we can see that there has been a shift to the north, while many victims were found to the south," he said during a press conference at Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi, as cited by Kompas.com.

"This is what we need to evaluate with the presence of the TNI AL ship, namely KRI Pulau Fanildo. Hopefully, tonight we can verify the data we have now," he continued.

According to Eko, the identification results show that the specifications and dimensions of the object on the seabed are similar to KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya.

Nevertheless, further verification using underwater detection technology is required.

"Further verification is needed using the underwater object detection tool, the Remot Operation Vehicle (ROV), and the sonar or sound navigation and ranging equipment on board KRI Pulau Fanildo," he continued.

Vice Admiral TNI I Gung Putu Alit Jaya, Commander of the Second Fleet Command in Surabaya, stated that the KRI Pulau Fanildo arrived in the waters of Banyuwangi on Saturday night around 20:00 WIB.

Furthermore, Rear Admiral Alit added that KRI Pulau Fanildo has an ROV device that allows real-time visualization from the seabed.

"With this ROV, we can take visuals on the seabed at the datum point suspected to be KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya," he said.

Amid the search for the victims and the wreckage of the KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya that sank, it was revealed that a number of passengers were not recorded in the manifest.

Former ticket counter guard at Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi, East Java, Febri (25), revealed the reasons why many KMP passengers are not listed in the manifest.

She said, passengers prefer to buy ship tickets through brokers or at the roadside because it is faster.

They are unwilling to buy tickets officially, or through the official Ferizy application, because it is considered troublesome.

As a result, the scalpers only entered the passengers' short names, instead of their full identities.

Although, the complete identity is important for insurance claims and official manifest data.

"Most people don't want to order by themselves. They prefer to buy tickets from scalpers or on the roadside because they feel it's faster," said Febri.

Not only is the ticket scalping issue a problem, the verification process at the port entry points also does not comply with procedures.

According to Febri, the verification process was not carried out for all vehicles.

Unfortunately, many service users provide false or incomplete data to the officers.

"For example, the car has six people, but it's said there are only three. So only three people are asked to show their ID cards," said Febri.

Previously, it was reported that 10 passengers of KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya had unknown names and full addresses.

In the data, only the short names are written. They are: Rahmat (50); Arif (33); Budi (33); Firdaus (24); Wafi (33); Usnan (25); Lukman (28); Selin (34); Heri (6); Ahmad (6).

In addition, a Malaysian citizen named Fauzey bin Awang (45) is also strongly suspected of not being listed on the KMP Tunu passenger manifest.

Fauzey, who just visited his wife Yatini in Banyuwangi, is scheduled to return to Malaysia on Thursday (7/3/2025) afternoon from Ngurah Rai Denpasar Airport.

However, its existence is unknown after the widespread news of the KMP Tunu shipwreck.

Although his name is strongly suspected not to be on the manifest, the travel vehicle he was on is recorded in the vehicle manifest at KMP Tunu.

"Last night she took a trip to Bali. She was supposed to fly to Malaysia today at 12 o'clock," said Yatini, holding back her tears, on Thursday.

As information, according to the manifest, KMP Tunu is recorded to carry 53 passengers and 22 vehicles.

Meanwhile, the ship's crew who sailed amounted to 12 people. In total, KMP Tunu carried 65 people when sailing from Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi, to Gilimanuk Port, Bali.
