Meskipun sebagian wilayah telah memasuki musim kemarau, kondisi atmosfer dan laut masih sangat dinamis dan bisa berdampak pada keselamatan serta kelancaran aktivitas masyarakat.
The head of BMKG, Dwikorita Karnawati, stated that according to the forecast and early warning from BMKG delivered a week earlier, various extreme weather events have occurred in the past week, which have had significant impacts, such as heavy rain, strong winds, floods, landslides, and transportation accidents. One of them was the incident of the KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya ship sinking in the Bali Strait on July 2, 2025, as well as several flight disruptions due to bad weather.
"This condition seems to align with the early warnings we have issued since H-1, even up to a week earlier, for the public sector, maritime, and aviation. BMKG regularly updates weather forecasts and potential impacts of extreme weather through various communication channels," said Dwikorita.
Public Meteorology Director of BMKG, Andri Ramdhani, added that the weekly weather forecast for the period of July 4-10, 2025, shows a high potential for heavy rain in various regions. During the period of July 4-6, areas to be alert include West Sulawesi, Maluku, and South Papua for the heavy rain alert category. Meanwhile, strong winds are potentially occurring in Riau Islands, Banten, West Java, East Java, Bali, NTB, NTT, and some areas in Sulawesi and Papua.
"From July 7-10, there is a high potential for heavy rain, especially expected in the Mountainous Papua region, while the Maluku area is still under alert status. The community must remain vigilant, especially against flash floods, landslides, and disruptions to daily activities," said Andri.
Faced with this condition, Head of BMKG Dwikorita Karnawati urged all land, sea, and air transportation operators to actively monitor and comply with the weather information and early warnings issued by BMKG. Dwikorita emphasized that compliance with meteorological information must be part of the standard operating procedures of transportation, for the safety of lives and the comfort of the broader community.
"Security must be the priority. Operational decision-making must refer to the meteorological data we officially and periodically provide," stated Dwikorita.
Dwikorita also invited all layers of society to not ignore weather information, especially when planning trips during the school holiday period. In addition, stakeholders in the government, disaster management, agriculture, logistics, and tourism sectors are urged to use weather data as a basis for planning activities.
The current weather cannot be predicted just by habits or intuition. We all need to be data-based and prepare to face the ever-changing climate dynamics. Comprehensive weather information can be accessed through various official BMKG communication channels, such as the infoBMKG application, website http://www.bmkg.go.id , as well as the official social media @infoBMKG," he said.
