Best for you - PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) has held the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (RUPS). Several decisions have emerged based on the meeting's results, one of which is the Persebaya Surabaya vs PSIM Yogyakarta match as the opening game, as well as foreign player regulations.
PT LIB held a general meeting at The Langham, Jakarta on Monday (7/7). The event took place from afternoon until night. The meeting was delayed as it was scheduled to be completed at 17:00 WIB.
Chairman of PT LIB, Ferry Paulus revealed that this year's annual general meeting was quite lively. Especially because the agenda was extraordinary due to a change in commissioners.
"Today, we have completed all the agenda from the regular and extraordinary general meeting. It is regular because it is a routine agenda every year, while the extraordinary one always involves a change of commissioners," said Ferry Paulus in a press conference after the general meeting.
Ferry explained that there are at least five points from the 2025 PT LIB RUPS. However, the most important one is the determination of the schedule for the 2025/2026 Indonesia Liga 1, starting on July 8, 2025, with Persebaya vs PSIM at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, as the opening match.
"Some important points in the previous RUPS process were quite heated, you could say the main point was: Liga 1 will start on August 8th. This is not a delay, because we never mentioned a previous date," said Ferry.
In addition, the foreign player quota has changed. Each team can now register a maximum of 11 players, compared to only eight foreign players before. Out of this number, only eight are allowed to be included in the starting lineup (DSP).
"The foreign players' quota is eight who play, then eight in DSP. But the club can register as 11," explained Ferry Paulus.
"For the eight foreign players earlier, they cannot be replaced by another foreign player in the match. The essence of this regulation will continue to be the regulation, hopefully it will not change again," he added.
Another important point from the results of PT LIB's general meeting is the re-branding of their own identity as well as the names of the league competitions, Liga 1 and Liga 2. PT LIB changed its name to I-League, and Liga 1 changed to Super League, while Liga 2 became Championships.
Meanwhile, the rest are related to U-23 player regulations, the new entity of Liga 2, until the change of commissioners.
Here is the complete list of results from the PT LIB General Meeting of Shareholders at The Langham, Jakarta, Monday (7/7):
1. Liga 1 will start on August 8, 2025, until May 2026, with the opening match between Persebaya Surabaya and PSIM Yogyakarta.
2. Liga 2 will have its own corporate entity with a share ownership percentage of 52 percent LIB, 48 percent clubs of Liga 2.
3. LIB rebranding to I-League, Liga 1 becomes BRI Super League, Liga 2 becomes Pegadaian Championship.
4. Foreign player regulations: 11 can be registered, eight can enter the DSP and be played at the same time.
5. U-23 players must be registered with five players, and one of them must play at least 45 minutes in each match.
6. Glenn Sugita replaced Teddy Tjahjono's position as a LIB commissioner from the champion team representative.
7. PT LIB welcomed a new addition to the operations department, Takeyuki Oya, as General Manager of Competition & Operations.
